Work with Object Groups

Object groups are clusters of 3D elements that are of grouped together because they have the same property attribute.

Using the Data Table, you can group 3D elements by any of the properties associated to the object.

For the object group, there is a drop-down that allows you to expand or collapse the group when clicked. The number next to the object group name indicates how many objects are in the group.

Once expanded, objects in the group are shown under the group.

Context Menu Functions

Right-click on a row in the Data Table to open the Context Menu. The context menu has the following options:
OptionDescription
Select in 3D Selects the objects in 3D.
Export to CSV Exports the selection to a CSV file.
Save to Organizer Saves the selection to Organizer. (Requires an Innovate, Business Premium or higher license).
Colorize Groups Colorizes the selection.
CopyCopies the data from the selection.

Colorize Object Groups

Objects can be colored from the Data Table using the Colorize groups button. Objects are colorized according to the current grouping. This can be useful for models that may have many objects that are the same color.

Sort Object Groups

You can select the sort icon to sort the objects in the group. You can sort objects in ascending or descending order.
  • To sort, selecting the column headers.
  • To change the sorting order, select the same column a second time.
  • Any object attribute existing in the project can be used to sort objects.
  • To change the sort order of the group, select the arrow button inside Group by.

Change Object Grouping

You can use the Group by feature to group objects by using an attribute that exists in the project.

To change the grouping:
  1. Open your project in Trimble Connect for Browser and navigate to the 3D Viewer.
  2. After you have loaded a model inside the Viewer, open the Data Table.
  3. Select and hold a column header and drag it into the Group by section.
  4. Release the mouse.
Alternatively, if you have more than level of grouping already, you can reorder them to change the grouping. You can also drag and drop column names to the Group by section to create different groupings.
