Digitize an Area Using the Vector tool

Use the following steps to create a single area out of one or more vectors.

  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
    Opmerking: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
  2. Select the Area tab, if it is not already active.
  3. In the Active Layer field on the toolbar, click to select the layer for which you want to digitize an area.
  4. Click Vector on the speedbar to enable vector functionality (if not already enabled).
    Opmerking: For newly imported PDF files that contain vectors, the Vector tool is automatically enabled. If the Vector tool is disabled in a newly imported PDF file, then the file does contain any vectors.
  5. In the vector layers window, select the vector layers that contain the vectors you want to digitize.
  6. Do one following to select the vectors within the area:
    • Click Select on the speedbar, hold the Shift key, and left-click on each vector within the area you want to digitize.
    • Click Multi on the speedbar and left-click on each vector within the area you want to digitize.
  7. Complete the annotation by right-clicking or by clicking Finished on the speedbar. the application automatically joins all selected vectors to form single area.
  8. In the Area Properties popup, in the Name field, enter a name for the new area.
  9. Select the appropriate properties for the new area. For more information, see Area Properties.
  10. Klik op OK.
