Components tab

Use this tab to define the components in the assembly setup. You should create a line for every detail you might need in the assembly. When you use the assembly setup to create an assembly in the estimate, you can only enter details for the lines defined in the assembly setup. If you need to add something to the assembly that was not included in the setup, you will have to add it as a separate cost item in the estimate. Therefore, it is important that you consider all aspects of the assembly when you define the components. Use the component groups to organize the lines.

FieldDescription
Component Group Name grid - Each row in the grid is a component group that will appear in enterprise level assemblies.
SortDisplays a 5-digit numeric value used to sort the component groups. If you want to override the sort for the cost type category, enter a new number.
Tip: You may want to leave gaps in your Sort values, such as intervals of ten. This makes it easy to insert or rearrange fields later.
Component Group NameEnter a code of up to eight alphanumeric characters to identify the component group.
Show in AssemblySelect the checkbox to display the component group in assemblies that use this assembly setup. Deselect the checkbox is hide the component group in assemblies that use this setup.
Line Type grid - Click next to a row to display the card view. A card view shows the notable information for a row on a single screen, eliminating the need to scroll back and forth.
SortDisplays a 5-digit numeric value used to sort the line types within component groups. If you want to override the sort for the cost type category, enter a new number.
Tip: You may want to leave gaps in your Sort values, such as intervals of ten. This makes it easy to insert or rearrange fields later.
Line TypeClick to select the line type.
LabelEnter a label for the line type. This is displayed on the Cost Item window to identify the line.
RequiredSelect the checkbox to indicate that the line will be required in the assembly.
Show in AssemblySelect the checkbox to display the line in assemblies that use this assembly setup. Deselect the checkbox to hide the line in assemblies. If the Component Group is set not to show in assemblies, the checkbox is deselected and disabled.
Assembly QuantityIf the line type is Quantity, select the checkbox to indicate that quantity is the quantity of the assembly. When you select the checkbox, the Required checkbox is selected and disabled. Deselect the checkbox to indicate that quantity is a quantity within the assembly.
Note: You must select this checkbox for at least one line in the assembly setup.
FormulaIf the line type is Quantity or Item, click to select the formula for the line from a Lookup List. This field is required if the line type is Item. Use the Formula Parameters tab to specify the details for the formula.
Enable/Disable - Use this area to specify when the line item is enabled or disabled. You can enable or disable the line based on another line.
Enable RuleClick to select when the line is enabled or disabled in an assembly.
Enable Group / LabelIf the rule is Disabled based on another field answer or Enabled based on another field answer, enter the group or label for the line which will be used to determine when the current line is enabled or disabled or click to select the group or line from a Lookup List. You cannot select a line with a line type of Comment.
Enable AnswerIf the rule is Disabled based on another field answer or Enabled based on another field answer, do one of the following:
  • If the enable group / label selected has a line type of Quantity, enter the value that when entered in the field will enable or disable the current line. You can enter [ > 0] to enable or disable the current line when a value greater than 0 is entered.
  • If the enable group / label selected has a line type of Pick List, click to select the value that when entered in the field will enable or disable the current line. The values available include all values for the pick list plus [blank] and [not blank].
  • If the enable group / label selected has a line type of Item, click to select the value that when entered in the field will enable or disable the current line. The values available include all values for the item plus [blank] and [not blank].
