Equipment cost codes use two segments with up to four characters per segment and a dot delimiter (1234.5678). The delimiter and right segment are optional. Because project cost codes can use up to four levels, the equipment cost codes are stored in level 3 and level 4 of a four-level cost code structure. A level 3 cost code can have a level type of either Posting or Grouping. A level 4 cost code can only have a level type of Posting and can only be defined if a corresponding level 3 grouping cost code exists. For example, you can only create cost code 10.1234 if code 10 already exists and has a level type of Grouping.
