Add Manager Comments to Performance Reviews

Performance Review Managers can enter comments when reviewing an employee's performance review responses.

Performance Review Admins must configure performance review templates to include manager comments. These settings are configured in Advanced Options for each performance review question. For details, see Create and Edit Performance Review Templates.

To leave manager comments, you must be assigned as a Performance Review Manager or belong to a Performance Review Group in User Access.

  1. Go to Employee Tools > Performance and select Manager View.
  2. In the Employee Status column, select the status to open the performance review and add comments.
    The status should display as one of the following:
    • Awaiting Manager Comments: Indicates that manager responses have not been started and that they are required in order to submit the review.
    • Edit Manager Responses: Indicates that manager responses have been started but not submitted. Managers can add or edit responses until the review is submitted.
  3. Add Manager Comments to employee responses as necessary.

    The option to submit the performance review is available only after you complete all required manager comments fields (required fields are outlined in red).

    You or other managers can edit manager comments until the performance review is submitted. Once any of the assigned managers submits the review, comments will no longer be editable and the review status will update to Completed.

  4. When you are ready to submit the review, select Submit, and Confirm your submission.
Back in the Performance Manager View, you can select Finalize Review once the option is enabled.

Depending on your setup, employees may need to acknowledge the completed review before it can be finalized. Or, you may have settings that automatically finalize a review upon manager completion.
