Trimble ID Password FAQ

What are the password requirements for Trimble ID?

All passwords must contain:
  • At least 8 characters
  • An upper- and lowercase letter
  • At least one number
  • One of these special characters: !@#$%^&*_-+

Why am I being asked for a verification code to sign in?

If you do not have a strong MFA method configured, such as a passkey or authenticator app, a one-time passcode (OTP) helps protect your account.

To complete your sign-in, open the email from Trimble and enter the OTP from that email into the verification screen.

Until you set up a stronger MFA method, you will be asked to enter an OTP when any one of the following is true:
  • You are signing in from a new computer, phone, or browser for the first time.
  • You have cleared your browser's cookies since you last signed in.
  • You last signed in more than 30 days ago and at that time did not select Remember this device.

See Configure os métodos de MFA da sua Trimble ID.

How can I unlock my Trimble ID account if it's temporarily locked?

After five consecutive incorrect password attempts, your account is locked for 15 minutes. During that time, it displays this message:

Once the message no longer displays, sign in. If you're able to sign in and want to reset your password, see Editar e-mail e senha da minha Trimble ID.

How do I reset my forgotten password?

You can reset your password even if you're not able to sign in, as long as you have access to your email.

  1. On the Trimble sign-in page, enter your email address and select Next.

    The password screen displays.

  2. Select Forgot password?.
  3. In the Password Reset screen, enter your email address and select Send Code.
  4. Retrieve the code from the email, enter it in the Verification Code field, and select Submit.
  5. Create your new password.

What are the rules regarding password history, for example, reusing a previous password?

Trimble ID does not track password history and does not limit password reuse.

How often do I need to change my Trimble ID password?

Passwords do not have a maximum age and do not need to be changed based on age.

Is there a minimum amount of time required between password changes?

No, Trimble ID users do not have to wait a minimum time period between password changes.

Do passwords display in plain text?

By default, your password is obscured on screen. However, you can toggle an option to display it in plain text.

Can my organization set custom password policies for users?

To use custom password policies, your company needs to set up a federation with a 3rd-party enterprise identity provider (IdP), such as with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google ID, or others. A federated setup permits user credentials and policies configured in the IdP to apply to Trimble ID.

What is the password policy regarding managed users?

  • Minimum characters expected - 6 characters
  • Maximum characters allowed - 16 characters
  • Must contain at least 1 number, 1 uppercase letter, and 1 lowercase letter
  • Special characters are not allowed
  • Temporary passwords set by administrators expire in 180 days
