Create Clash Sets

You can create clash sets in the 3D viewer.

To create a new clash set:
  1. Open your project in Trimble Connect for Browser and navigate to the 3D Viewer.
  2. Load the models you want to use for the clash set.
  3. Open the Clash sets tab.
  4. In the upper-right corner of the Clash sets tab, select Add clash set.
  5. In the Clash set parameters panel, type the clash set name.
  6. Select the required option in the Type field.
  7. Specify the clearance or tolerance distance.
  8. To leave out clashes within the same object type or element type, select Ignore clashes within the same type.
  9. Add the users or user groups with whom you want to share the clash set.
  10. Select Run test.
The new clash set will be added to the Clash sets tab.

Clash Set Parameters

The table provides detailed information about clash set parameters.

Name

Name for the clash set is mandatory and needs to be defined before the clash set can be created.

Once a name has been defined, the Run test button is enabled.

TypeThere are two types of clash sets: Clash and Clearance.
  • Clash: Use this option to find objects that collide or interfere with other objects with a specified tolerance.
  • Clearance: Use this option to to find objects that are within a specified distance of one another.
Tolerance/Clearance

Tolerance: the conflicting distance between objects.

Clearance: the distance between objects.

Ignore clashes within the same typeSelecting this option disregards any clashes of the same object type. This can be useful when you are detecting a clash between two trades or disciplines.
Shared withShare the clash set by choosing the user from the list.

Clash Testing

When you create a clash test, the 3D Viewer will use the models that are currently loaded in the 3D view.

In the Parameters panel, you can choose which version of the model to use the clash test. By default, the latest version of each model is selected.

Two or more models must be selected to run a clash test.
