Set the Coordinate Reference System (CRS)

Follow these steps to set the CRS for a new Shared Object Model.

The CRS is set as an integrated part of the New Shared Object Model procedure. When you select OK in the New Shared Object Model dialog, the Coordinate Reference System wizard displays. Dependent on the selected Shared Object Model Template, a default CRS is defined for both projected and vertical CRS. This is shown in the New Model dialog.

To set a new CRS:

  1. In the Coordinate reference system field of the New Model dialog, ensure Select a published coordinate reference system is selected, then select Browse.
The Select coordinate reference system window opens.
  2. Enter the name of the CRS in the Filter field at the top then select Apply filter to find the appropriate CRS. Select the correct one and choose Select.
Note: If your project is in the Civil Design and Collaboration Extension and you do not the desired CRS for in the list of CRSs, it may be because you first have to make an Area Of Interest (AOI). The system will then:
    • calculate a center point of this AOI-polygon.
    • find a certain number of the closest CRSs which are valid for that point.
    • list only those CRSs, not all that are valid within your AOI.

If you want to select an AOI that is not in the list, you must edit your AOI so there are not so many hits. After selecting your CRS, you can then edit your AOI to the one you want. This can be done even to select a CRS that in principle is not valid for your AOI. Just draw an AOI within the valid range of the CRS, select it and then edit your AOI to the one you want.

  3. Select Finish then finalize the creation of your Shared Object Model.
