Create a bid item in an estimate

  1. Open a job in the Manage Estimates screen.
  2. Open the Estimate tab.
  3. Select Add on the speedbar.
  4. In the Type field, select the Bid Item option button.
  5. In the Reference field, enter a reference number for the bid item. You can leave this blank or use an existing reference.
  6. In the Description field, enter a detailed description for the bid item.
  7. Select the Auto increment reference number by checkbox to have the Estimating module automatically increment the reference number for the next item added.
  8. Select the Edit item detail after add checkbox to edit the bid item immediately after you create it.
  9. Select one of the following options to specify where the bid item will appear in the estimate:
    • Append Items to Estimate – To add the item to the end of the estimate.
    • Insert items after – To add the item after the currently selected row.
  10. Select Add.
  11. In the Bid Quantity field, enter the bid quantity for the item or select to increase or decrease the value.
  12. In the Actual Quantity field, enter the actual quantity for the item or select to increase or decrease the value.
  13. In the Unit of Measurement field, select the unit for the bid item.
  14. In the Item Type field, select one of the following options:
    • Cost Item – If you select cost item, select the cost item type from the drop-down field.
    • List Assembly – If you select List Assembly, you will need to select the members of the assembly in the cost item window.
  15. Select OK.
  16. In the Select a WBS field for field, select the WBS code to assign to this bid item.
  17. Select OK.
  18. Select OK on the confirmation window.
    Note: The existing code will be overwritten with 'Bid Item'.
  19. If you selected the Edit item detail after add checkbox, go to step 20. Otherwise, go to step 21.
  20. Complete the fields as described on the Cost Item Screen Field Reference.
  21. Select OK.
  22. If you need to add more new items, repeat these steps.
  23. Select Close.
