Topic References

Topics support three reference types. Depending on the type of reference and your permissions, different functions will be available for each.

Project Files

Attached project files always point to the latest version of the file stored in the Connect Project.

Supported actions: View, Download, Locate in Explorer, Remove

Uploaded Files

Uploaded files are not visibility stored in the Connect Project, but they do support versions if you upload the same file.

Supported actions: View, Download, Remove

Links (URLs)

Hyperlinks items can be added to a Topic.

Supported actions: Open (in new tab), Remove

Add Project File References

You can add project references, local file references, and link references.

To add references:
  1. Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
  2. Go to the BCF Topics page.
  3. Select the Topic you want to add a reference to.
  4. Under the References section click the + button.
    • To add project file references:
    1. Select the desired file in the Add References dialog.
    2. Select Add references.
    • Add local file references:
    1. Click the 2nd tab in the Add References dialog.
    2. Drag and drop a file or click Browse to open the native File Explorer.
    3. Click Add references.
    • To add link references:
    1. Click the 3rd tab in the Add References dialog.
    2. Add the desired link's display text.
    3. Add the link's URL.
    4. Click Add attachment.

Download References

You can download all the references.

To download file references:
  1. Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
  2. Go to the BCF Topics page.
  3. Select the Topic you want to download the reference from.
    • To download a file reference:
    1. Open the overflow menu for the desired file.
    2. Click Download.
    • To download all file references:
    1. Open the overflow menu for the References section.
    2. Click Download.

Remove References

When you remove references, it can't be undone.

To remove references:
  1. Open your project Trimble Connect for Browser.
  2. Go to the BCF Topics page.
  3. Select the Topic you want to remove the reference from.
    • To remove a reference:
    1. Open the overflow menu for the desired reference.
    2. Click Remove.
    • To remove all references:
    1. Open the overflow menu for the References section.
    2. Click Remove.
