Application and Operating System Upgrade FAQ

Information regarding the planned ERP and Operating System upgrades as part of our technology modernization.

What is changing?

As part of our ongoing platform improvements, we are performing two planned upgrades:
  • Spectrum Framework - updating the framework that powers your ERP application, from PRO-IV Version 8 to Version 10.
  • Operating System - upgrading SQL Server from 2016 to 2022 to ensure your continued compatibility and long-term support, as SQL Server 2016 has reached the end of its support lifecycle.

Is any action required from me?

For the upgrade itself, no action is required from you; all upgrade activities will be handled by the support team.

Important: The only requirement is that each user clear their browser cache after they receive the upgrade completion confirmation email (described below) and before signing in to Spectrum.

Why is this update required?

This upgrade provides you with continued vendor support, improved performance and stability, enhanced security, and compatibility with modern infrastructure.

Will there be changes to my business processes?

No. Your existing workflows, screens, and reports will continue to function as they do today.

Will I need training?

No training is expected for you; your application experience remains the same.

What happens to my existing data?

All of your data will be fully retained, migrated, and validated with no data loss expected.

Will there be downtime for the ERP update?

Yes. A planned maintenance window will be required, and we will communicate those details to you in advance.

What is the rollback plan for the ERP update?

In case of critical issues, a full system snapshot will be taken before the update so your system can be rolled back to the previous stable state, ensuring your business continuity.

What is changing with the Windows Server upgrade?

Your operating system will be upgraded from Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2022.

Why is this OS upgrade needed?

This upgrade addresses the end of support for Windows Server 2016 and provides you with improved security, long-term stability, and support for the next generation of hardware.

Will this impact my ERP application?

No functional impact is expected for you, and the ERP system will be fully validated post-upgrade.

Will there be downtime for the OS upgrade?

Yes. A separate planned maintenance window will be scheduled and communicated to you.

What is the rollback plan for the OS upgrade?

A pre-upgrade snapshot will be taken so that, if required, your system can be restored to the previous Windows Server 2016 state.

How will I receive notifications for these changes?

You will receive all notifications via in-app alerts, including schedules, downtime notifications, and completion confirmations.

Can we request a different migration date?

Yes. You may request to reschedule your migration to a preferred date, subject to availability.

How can we change or reschedule the migration date?

You can request a date change at any time by emailing spectrum-migration-support@trimble.com.

Are there any licensing changes?

No. There are no changes to your existing licenses as part of either upgrade.

What go-live support will be provided?

After each upgrade, you will be provided with a hypercare support period of 48–72 hours to promptly address any issues.

What are the support hours during the upgrade window?

During the upgrade and hypercare period, support will be available as per your standard SLA with extended monitoring in place.

Who should I contact for support?
