Screen Icon and Keyboard Reference

The following tables explain the icons and keyboard shortcuts available across different screens in your application.

Icon Reference

Icon Description
Displays the Home Page.
Displays a company drop-down list and allows you to change the active company.
Opens the Help topic for the current screen.
Displays the next tab.
Displays the previous tab.
Opens a lookup list.
Displays a drop-down list (in a drop-down field) or a date picker (in a date field).
Opens an Edit Box pop-up on a tax form screen.
Copies the displayed address to the Windows clipboard.
Hover over this icon to display the All Tasks pane.
Hover over this icon to display the Messages pane.
"Pins" the pane so that it displays at all times.
"Unpins" the pane so that it displays only when you hover over its tab.
Displays details on a row in a grid. Some grids allow you to view the data in a row in a "card view." A card view shows the notable information for row on a single screen, eliminating the need to scroll back and forth. Other grids allow you to drill down to a more detailed of the data in a row.
Opens a field chooser that allows you to select the columns that appear in a grid or a lookup list.
Adds a row to a grid.
Removes a row from a grid.
If present, hover over this icon to view information you should know about the field.
Displays at the upper right of the screen (next to the Help menu) when the application is actively performing background tasks. Click the icon to view the current background tasks. You can continue working during this time, but you can't log out until all background tasks are complete. Save actions on certain screens may be performed in the background.

Keyboard Reference

Key Description
F1 Opens the Help topic for the current screen.
[F6] Populates the field with the first value of a lookup list.
[F8] "Pins" or "unpins" the Messages pane.
[F9] "Pins" or "unpins" the All Tasks pane.
[F11] Toggles the toolbar and the window bar at the top of the screen on and off.
Tab or Enter Moves the cursor to the next field.
Shift + Tab or Shift + Enter Moves the cursor to the previous field.
Ctrl+Tab Displays the next window.
Shift + Ctrl + Tab Displays the previous window.
Alt Displays keyboard shortcuts for the buttons on the current screen. Press Alt and the corresponding underlined letter on the button to perform that function.
Page up Displays the previous tab or sub-tab.
Page down Displays the next tab or sub-tab.
Ctrl+Home Displays the Home Page.
In a date field:
F4 Displays the date picker.
[F5] Enters the most recently used date.
[T] Enters today's date.
[+] Adds one day to the date.
[-] Subtracts one day from the date.
[F] Enters the first day of the current month.
[L] Enters the last day of the current month.
In a lookup field:
F4 Displays the lookup list.
[F5] Enters the most recently used value for the "entity." For example:

If you save new customer ABC Hardware in the Customer screen and then go to the Project screen to enter a new project, you can use the [F5] shortcut in the Customer field to automatically enter ABC Hardware as the customer.
In a drop-down field:
F4 Displays the drop-down list.
Up or Down Moves through the options in the drop-down list.
In a checkbox:
Space bar Toggles the checkbox.
In a formatted text field or multi-line field:
Alt+Enter Enters a line break.
