Test Your Vista SMTP Email Configuration

Test your SMTP email relay configuration by using a Vista notifier to send test emails.

Set up SMTP settings as outlined in Configure SMTP Email Settings.
  1. In Vista, go to Workflow > Programs > WF Notifier Job Manager.
  2. Search for the WF Notifier Email Test job.
  3. Select the Email tab and fill out the fields for your test email.
    1. In the To field, enter your email address as a test email.
    2. Enter a Subject and Header for your test email.
    3. Select Send Email.

For more information about these fields, see Field Definitions: WF Notifier Job Manager Form.

  4. Check your email to verify that the message sent.

If the message sent, your email relay is set up properly.

Troubleshooting
  1. If the test email does not come through to your inbox, go to Viewpoint Administration > Programs > VA Message Archive.

The grid displays all send attempts.

  2. View the failure message to figure out why the test email did not send. The error messages are typically much longer than what you see in the grid, so be sure to look at the full message.

Send As errors are the most common errors. These occur when your email service is not properly configured. Any email address that shows as a from account must grant permission to your company email account to send emails on behalf of the company account.
