Draw Cross-Section from Quadri

The function generates the cross-section terrain profile and draws it to AutoCAD drawing.

The function draws terrain surfaces, soil layers, saved road lines, and surfaces available from all the active groups shown. The cross-section terrain profiles are generated and drawn at a desired interval.

Run the function from:

  • Ribbon: Novapoint > Terrain Information > Draw Cross Section from Quadri

The dialog 'Select Horizontal Alignment' will pop up.

Step-1: Horizontal Alignment

  • Select the baseline using the buttons 'Select', 'Browse', or 'Pick' - the baseline can be:
    • An alignment/object from the terrain model - use Select
    • An ASCII file with the alignment data (*.TIT, *.LIN, *.DAT, *.INH, and *.LI) - use Browse
    • A line/polyline/arc or alignment from the current drawing - use Pick
  • Define the interval for the longitudinal profile at Calculation interval (m)
  • Define interval for the longitudinal profile at Calculation width (m)
  • Define your SubSurface Information and choose the wanted Material for all your Levels
  • Click Next to open the dialog 'Draw Cross Section' and define the output parameters

Note:

The first point of the CAD entity will be the start point for calculations and presentation in case the baseline is a CAD entity.

Step-2: Output Parameters

  • The active Terrain model and the baseline information can be viewed at the top of this dialog.
  • Cross-section selection
  • Keep the 'First chainage' and 'Last chainage' of your line, if you want the whole project to be written out.
  • Drawing settings
  • 'Insertion point' to place the cross-sections in the AutoCAD drawing.
  • The default is 0,0 or you can pick the wanted point in the drawing. Then the dialog will pop up again and show the coordinates X and Y.
  • 'Section width' is the total of 'Left width' and 'Right width' for the cross-section; you can choose differently for the left and right sides.
  • 'Vertical spacing' gives space between the cross-sections, and the scale in the AutoCAD drawing gives the 'Vertical exaggeration'.
  • Additional Drawing Objects
  • If you want to Draw other alignments, Draw wireframes or Existing objects choose them here.
  • The option Drawing style setting you choose which predefined standard you want to use.
  • Use the button Back if you want to change the Input Parameters.
  • Or execute the function with Draw.

Note:

The Longitudinal profile will be inserted on predefined layers

Finished cross-section profiles are shown below

The grips are the terrain heights. Cross-sections at every interval will be having the elevation of the alignment, chainage of the station, and identity of the alignment selected.
