Changes to Trimble ID Logins for Vista Web 2025 R2
Beginning in early 2025, Trimble ID logins will be enabled for Vista Web cloud customers. Review the following information to learn about what to expect.
Trimble ID Logins Coming Soon!
If you are a Vista Web cloud customer currently using Viewpoint ID single-sign on (SSO), you will soon be upgraded to log in using Trimble ID. We anticipate minimal disruption to your users during the transition to SSO with Trimble ID.
Timeline: Trimble ID will be enabled in Vista for customers on Vista version 2024 R1 through a gradual rollout process beginning in early 2025. Learn more about the migration process for Vista in the Vista Trimble ID FAQ.
Changes: You will notice several changes in Vista Web once you transition from Viewpoint ID to Trimble ID.
For organizations new to SSO logins: If your organization does not currently use SSO logins, you can upgrade to Trimble ID. To get started, see Configure Trimble ID Login.
System Requirements
- You are a Trimble Construction One cloud customer
- You are on Vista Web 25.2 or higher
- You are on Vista 2024 R1 or higher
- You have Trimble ID enabled in Vista. This requires flipping a switch on the Vista backend. Our migration team will complete this step.
User Requirements
As an admin, you must make sure your users' records are configured to be able to transition to Trimble ID logins. Configuration depends on how you set up your users in Vista, but each user must have their email address on their Vista VA User Profile or PR Employee record in order for users to log in using Trimble ID. The email address must be unique and cannot exist on another employee's record or in another PR company.
Review the following for each user:
For users with a PR Employee record (non-VA users): The user is linked to Trimble ID through the Email Address on this form, which is either the email address used previously for Viewpoint ID, or the email address they enter when first creating their Trimble ID. Make sure the user has their email address entered on this form. The email must be unique and cannot exist on another employee's record or in another PR company.
For users with a VA User Profile record: The user is linked to Trimble ID through the User Name on this form, which is either the email address used previously for Viewpoint ID, or the email address they enter when first creating their Trimble ID. Make sure the user has a username that is their email address, their payroll company (PR Co), and their Employee number entered on this form. A user should have only one VA User Profile.
For more information about updating VA User Profile records, see Create a VA User Profile for a Vista Web User.
Login Changes
Trimble ID changes the single sign-on process for users.
However, users who currently log in using their employee number and password will still be able to do so.
- Terminology updates: On the portal login page, the SSO
option will update to Sign In
with Trimble ID.
All references to Viewpoint ID or VPID are replaced with Trimble ID or TID.
- Automatic
account upgrade: Users log in with the same email they
previously used for Viewpoint ID. The first time they enter this email
address to log in, their account will automatically upgrade to Trimble ID.
Users can tell if their account upgraded and linked to Trimble ID after logging in by selecting their name in the top right of the portal and verifying that they see the TID Linked indicator.
- Login screen
updates: There are changes to the login screens when your
users log in with Trimble ID, outlined in this graphic:
Vista Web Office Tools Access Requirements
- A Trimble ID
- One Vista VA User Profile, with an email address, PR Co number, and employee number entered on the form
- Permissions to access forms in Vista
Administrative Changes
Trimble ID changes the way admins set up users and configure login settings.
- Account linking and
unlinking: Admins no longer manually link user portal profiles
to Trimble ID accounts, as this is
done automatically when the user logs in.
Only system and security admins can unlink Trimble ID from user portal profiles. For more information, see Unlink Trimble ID from a User's Portal Profile.
- New login mode option: The new TID/VPID SSO Only option in the portal setting Log in mode now allows you to limit users to log in with Trimble ID / Viewpoint ID only. For more details about configuring this setting, see Change How Users Log Into the Portal.
- Multifactor Authentication (MFA): You can now manage your organization's multifactor authentication (MFA) through settings in Vista. For details, see Configure Multifactor Authentication and Additional Login Settings in the Vista Help.
Getting Started: For Organizations New to SSO Logins
If your organization did not previously use Viewpoint ID SSO, you can have Trimble ID enabled.
- Configure Trimble ID for your organization: After you complete all the requirements for using Trimble ID, follow the setup steps outlined here: Configure Trimble ID Login.
- Login prerequisites for new SSO users: Vista Web users
who did not previously log in using Viewpoint ID must complete some prerequisites before they
can log in with Trimble ID:
- For existing Vista users: Vista users who do not have a Trimble ID must log into Vista first before logging into the portal. This will migrate the user's Vista login to Trimble ID. At that point they can log into the Vista Web portal using Trimble ID, and their accounts will automatically link.
- For non-Vista users: Non-Vista users (portal users who do not access Vista) must be added in the Trimble Construction One Admin Center and sent an invitation to join. Once the user completes the steps in the email invite, they will be able to log in to the Vista Web portal using Trimble ID.
Troubleshooting Trimble ID Login Issues
-
Have users manually link Trimble ID to their portal profile: If the web portal cannot automatically link Trimble ID to a user's portal profile (such as when their Trimble ID user name is not associated with a Vista VA User Name or PR Employee email), users can manually link accounts using their employee number and a one-time PIN. For details about this process, see Manually Link Trimble ID to Your Portal Profile.
-
Unlink Trimble ID from a user's portal profile: If your users are having issues logging in with Trimble ID, and they cannot manually link their accounts, you can unlink the user's Trimble ID from their profile. This resets their login so they can sign in using their employee number and password. For more information, see Unlink Trimble ID from a User's Portal Profile.
