We always recommend you download and
      install the latest version (with any updates) for best performance. Make sure to pick the
      Novapoint that matches your CAD software, either using Trimble Drawing or Autodesk
      products.</p><p class="p">The installation may require installing certain Windows updates and other
      software to work OK, and could require a few reboots. Also check the <a class="xref" href="/en/novapoint/novapoint/whats-new/novapoint-downloads/system-requirements">System Requirements</a>.</p><p class="p"><span class="ph b">Starting for the first time</span></p><p class="p">When starting the software for the first time it will start the Startup Settings.</p><p class="p">In Startup Settings you set the license type (Named User or FlexLM). For most users this will be a Named User for both Quadri and Novapoint.</p><p class="p">For Novapoint used with AutoCAD you can also set the version/variant of Autodesk products that you want to use.</p><div class="p">
      <div class="note note note_note" id="setting-up-your-software12345--en__note_mby_fbp_53c"><span class="note__title">Note:</span> If you have multiple AutoCAD, Civil3D or Map3D installed, then you
        can pick software to use in the Startup Settings.</div>

        <p class="p">If you want to change the Autodesk product then close Novapoint and
          Quadri.</p>
      </li><li class="li">
        <p class="p">In the Windows Startup menu find the Startup Settings for
          Novapoint.</p>
      </li><li class="li">
        <p class="p">Open it and at the bottom you will find the option to change Autodesk
          products.</p>
      </li><li class="li">
        <p class="p">Now start Novapoint and open the AutoCAD software via the <span class="ph uicontrol">Start CAD button</span>.</p>
      </li></ol><p class="p"><span class="ph b">Relating Novapoint to your CAD-software</span></p><p class="p">The first time you start your Novapoint and want to start the CAD software it is required that CAD has been started up prior to launching it from Novapoint. This is to make sure the installation of the CAD software was done properly and that all files are unpacked on the CAD software.</p><p class="p"><span class="ph b">Quadri says CAD is not installed</span></p><p class="p">The CAD software you aim to use is either not installed, or it has not
      been started once since installing. Start your CAD software manually from Microsoft Windows.
      Then close the CAD software.
