One or all states may be included in the report. This report prints in alphabetical sequence by employee code. The Federal Unemployment Report (FUTA) is also provided for the U.S. tax table.

Excess Unemployment Tax Report

If you are a multi-state employer, use this report to adjust for reciprocity rules for the states and other jurisdictions you work in when manually calculating the unemployment liability.

This report also serves as an audit document, particularly if tax settings were not correct when payrolls were processed.

Incorrect setup, tax rate changes, and so on can result in unemployment tax calculation errors. This version of the report provides the raw information that can be used to assist you in determining the correct tax liability. Using the tax code's current setup, the report prints the subject-to earnings for that jurisdiction and deducts its current limit to arrive at the excess.

This report re-computes unemployment liability versus the standard report, including resident state exemptions, and presents amounts calculated and accrued during regular payroll cycles.

Number of weeks worked

Both unemployment reports use the check date to determine the number of weeks worked. They do this using the number of days between the check date and the value you enter in the From check date field and dividing it by 7, which indicates which one of the 52 weeks it belongs to. If two checks had check dates in the same week, the week is counted only once.
