Create a Power BI report from a template

You can create a custom Power BI report from a template instead of creating a report from scratch. The templates available to you are sync'd to the datasets that you have access to.

  1. From the Dashboard tab, under Report Tags select Power BI Templates.

    A list of available templates displays, based on the datasets that you have access to.

  2. Select the template that you want to use and select the options menu on the right-hand side.
  3. From the options menu select Edit in Power BI.

    A template report opens, showing a range of sample pages with different visual layouts that you can use to build your report.

  4. To add data, select a visual layout, then from the Data column, select fields or measures to add them to the report. You can also use the search window to find a field or measure.

  5. To change the report title, select the Sample Report field (top left of the screen) and enter your report title.
  6. To change a page layout name, double-click the required Layout tab at the bottom of the screen and enter your page name.
  7. Once you have finished setting up the report, save it as follows:
    1. Select File > Save as
    2. In the Save a copy of this report dialog, enter a report name, and then select Save.
