Moving Files and Folders
In Trimble Connect for Browser, you can move files and folders.
Before you start moving files and folders, you need to review the following guidelines:
- Two files with the same name cannot live in the same folder. If you are trying to move a file to a new location in your folder structure that already contains another file with the same name, you will be shown an error message.
- You can choose to delete the file from the destination location and then move the file. Or, you can choose to skip moving the file.
- Merging two folders is not supported. Folders existing with the same name in the destination folder will be skipped/not moved.
- Moving a file or folder will create a new version.
Drag and Drop to Move
You can use the drag and drop technique to move files.
Use the "Move to" Panel
If you don't like to drag and drop, you can use the Move to panel to easily navigate to the folder where your selected items should be moved to.
Moving folders does not change the permissions that are currently defined for that folder. Folder permissions will be retained and not inherited from the parent folder.
The Move here button is disabled when you are in a folder that is the same as where your selection resides (since you cannot move an item to its current location).
Folders that you only have Read Only Access will be shown grayed out.
