Aligning 3D Models

In Trimble Connect for Windows, there are several different ways to align 3D models.

Model relocation is saved also on the server side, which means that when removing the model locally, model location will be remembered when downloading the model again.

You have several options to reposition a model:
  • X and Y position
  • Elevation
  • Scale
  • X, Y, and Z rotation
  • Adjust the distance
  • Align
  1. Open a model in Trimble Connect for Windows 3D Viewer.
  2. Open the Model Details Tab.
  3. To position the model:
    1. Adjust the following:
      • X and Y position
      • Elevation
      • Scale
      • X, Y, and Z rotation
    2. Close the panel.
  4. To move the model:
    1. Select Move.
    2. Pick the first point (the point you want to move).
    3. Pick the second point (the point you want to move to).
The first point selected will be moved to the second point selected.

The distance, elevation, and X and Y values will get updated with the new position.

  5. To rotate the model:
    1. Select Rotate.
    2. Pick the rotation axis (X, Y, or Z).
    3. Pick the first point (this will be the origin point).
    4. Pick the second point (this will define your reference line).
    5. Pick a third point to define the rotation.
  6. To align two models:
    1. Select Align.
    2. Pick the start and end point for the first line.
    3. Pick the start and end point for the second line.
The angle formed between the two lines is the rotation angle.
  7. To reset placement, select Reset Placement.
Model location and scale are reset back to the origin.
