Release Retainage
Release a contract's retainage amount so the subcontractor can bill the general contractor for it.
- The general contractor can release retainage before a contract reaches 100% completion, but this is not a common practice.
- When the subcontractor bills out the contract to 100% completion, Trimble Pay automatically updates the contract status to Retainage Pending Release.
- Once the general contractor releases the retainage, the subcontractor can bill for that amount.
Subcontractors cannot bill for both progress and retainage on the same invoice.
To release some or all of the retainage:
- Changes the contract status to Retainage Pending Submission
- Sends an email notification to the subcontractor that they can now invoice for the retainage amount you released.
- Prepares the subcontractor's retainage invoice for them, so all they need to do is select Sign and submit retainage and follow the normal billing steps. This triggers an email to your team notifying you that a retainage invoice is awaiting your review.
