View Trench Quantities
Once you have digitized all trenches of a job site, and then verified them in the graphical tabs, you can view the total quantities of the trenches in the Summary tab.
- Trenches do not total by defined areas in a job.
- Trenches excavate through the proposed layer. Viewpoint Estimating assumes that the materials have been brought up or down to proposed grade prior to the trench excavation.
- Backfill does not include bedding materials or pipe displacement.
- When you balance a site, you are lowering the proposed terrain not the pipe invert.
View Trench Subtotals
If you need to view subtotals of trenches with different types, you will need to set those trenches as active individually and view the subtotals in the upper-section of the Summary tab.
View Trench Details
- Total Excavation - All material removed from the trench.
- Pipe Displacement - The volume of space the pipe fills within the trench.
- Backfill - Excavation values which do not include the amount of native material required to fill the trench back to proposed elevations. This number does not include pipe displacement and bedding volume.
- Pipe Type - Displays the length of specified pipes.
- Total Trench Length - The total length of the trench.
- Disturbed Area - The disturbed width multiplied by the length of the trench.
- Perimeter - The perimeter of the trench.
- Fill (Excavated from Trench) - The amount of fill excavated from the trench.
- Substrata/Unclassified - Substrata materials specified in borings or unclassified if undefined.
- Disturbed Width - The width of the trench plus space for excavation equipment.
- Maximum Trench Width - The width of the trench at its widest point.
- Trench Depths - Displays the length of trench at defined cut depths.
- Total Trench Length - The total length of the trench.
Use Swell and Yield Factors on Trenches
Swell and yield values can be applied to any substrata materials as well as bedding and import materials. These values can be predefined within the Boring Attributes screen and Volume Attributes screen or entered within the Summary tab itself. See Enter Swell and Yield Factors for more information.
