3D Tab Button and Keyboard Reference

The following tables explain the buttons and keyboard shortcuts available when using the 3D Tab.

Button Reference

Restores the 3D view to its original aspect after you change the size, zoom, or rotation of the screen. Selecting Normal does not remove the magnification on the z-axis (depth) on the job.
Rotates your viewpoint of the 3D view. Click and drag the 3D view or use Up, Down, Left, and Right ([U], [D], [L], and [R]) to rotate your viewpoint.
Note: Zoom in on the section you want to view before rotating the viewpoint.
Moves your viewpoint of the 3D view. Click and drag the 3D view or use Up, Down, Left, and Right ([U], [D], [L], and [R]) to move your viewpoint.

Moves or rotates your viewpoint up, depending on whether Move or Rotate is currently selected.
Moves or rotates your viewpoint down, depending on whether Move or Rotate is currently selected.
Moves or rotates your viewpoint to the left, depending on whether Move or Rotate is currently selected.
Moves or rotates your viewpoint to the right, depending on whether Move or Rotate is currently selected.
Simulates a helicopter flyover and gives you a moving, low-altitude view of your job site.
Magnifies the z-axis (depth) of the job, allowing you to exaggerate the vertical scale of a job.
Reduces the magnification on the z-axis (depth) of the job, to remove the magnification of the vertical scale of a job. Selecting Normal does not remove the magnification on the z-axis
Displays how much cut and fill will be required at the specific locations throughout the job site. The red color indicates the areas where cut is required. The blue color indicates the areas where fill is required. The white area indicates the neutral area where little cut or fill is required. The darker the color, the more cut and fill is required.
Displays the Change the 3D Tab Properties pop-up window.
Displays the Select Layers to View pop-up window.

Keyboard Reference

KeyDescription
[N]Restores the 3D view to its original aspect after you change the zoom or viewpoint of the screen.
[T]Activates the Rotate tool.
[V]Activates the Move tool.
[U]With the Rotate or Move tool activated, rotates or moves the viewpoint up.
[D]With the Rotate or Move tool activated, rotates or moves the viewpoint down.
[L]With the Rotate or Move tool activated, rotates or moves the viewpoint left.
[R]With the Rotate or Move tool activated, rotates or moves the viewpoint right.
[B]Activates the Flyby tool. Press [B] again to end the flyby
[M]Magnifies the z-axis.
[X]Un-magnifies the z-axis.
[Z]Zoom
[E]Fit to Screen
[C]Activates the Cut Fill tool.
[P]Displays the 3D Display Properties pop-up window.
