Pre-Installation Checklist

If you are installing Estimating for the first time, review the following checklist before you begin the installation process.

  • Are you the local administrator of this computer?
    • Yes - Proceed to the next step.
    • No - You must have local administrator privileges to install Viewpoint Estimating.
  • The installation program may restart your computer during the install. Is this OK?
    • Yes - Proceed to the next step.
    • No - Do not proceed. Schedule the installation when you can restart the computer as needed.
  • If you are installing a standalone system, how much free hard drive space is on the drive where your application will be installed?
    • I am not installing a standalone system - Proceed to the next step.
    • Greater than 100 GB - Proceed to the next step.
    • Less than 100 GB - Do not proceed. You must free up some space on this drive before proceeding to the next step.
  • If you are installing a server-based network, how much free space is on the drive or partition where Estimating will be installed?
    • I am not installing a server-based network - Proceed to the next step.
    • Greater than 250 GB - Proceed to the next step.
    • Less than 250 GB - Do not proceed. You must free up some space on this drive or partition before proceeding to the next step.
  • If you are installing the application a workstation (user computer), how much free hard drive space is on the drive where it will be installed?
    • I am not installing a workstation - Proceed to the next step.
    • Greater than 10 GB - Proceed to the next step.
    • Less than 10 GB - Do not proceed. You must free up some space on the workstation's drive before proceeding to the next step.
  • You should have received your application's server license by email. Do you have it?
  • Do you have approximately 2 to 2½ hours for the server installation plus approximately 1 hour for each workstation installation?
    • Yes - Proceed with the installation.
    • No - Schedule the installation when you have enough time to run the installation program.
