Predefined Answers Group Template Tiered Answers Example
Enter the names of predefined answers in Columns T1-T7. Each answer is listed in its own row. For example, if there are three different options for a parent answer, you’ll use a total of four rows in the spreadsheet: one with the parent answer, and three with the parent answer and one of the options. In our example, we're listing each room and hallway for a project. There are two floors and a basement, and several rooms per floor.
- List a parent, or first tier, answer in the Tier 1 column. In our example, this is the basement. The basement has no other rooms or hallways, so there will be no more Tier 1 answers that include the basement.
- List the next parent answer in the Tier 1 column of a new row. In our example, this is Floor 1. Floor 1 has multiple rooms and a closet.
- To list a Floor 1 room, enter the parent (Floor 1) in the Tier 1 column in a new row, and enter the child (Room 101), or second tier, answer in the Tier 2 column.
- For the next Floor 1 room, enter the parent in the Tier 1 column of a new row, and enter the new child (Room 102) in the Tier 2 column.
- Continue this process for all answers that fall under the first tier. Floor 1 will always be in the Tier 1 column for any room on that floor.
- Build on this structure to enter a closet (Tier 3) that’s attached to Room 102 (Tier 2) on Floor 1 (Tier 1). Enter Floor 1 in the Tier 1 column, Room 102 in the Tier 2 column, and Room 102 Closet in the Tier 3 column.
- When all rooms and closets for Floor 1 have been entered, enter Floor 2 in the Tier 1 column of a new row and add any rooms and hallways that are part of Floor 2 in the Tier 2 column of a new row. Enter any closets or other spaces that are attached to a room on Floor 2 in the Tier 3 column of a new row.
