Upload or Replace a Drawing

Upload a new or replacement drawing from your computer by browsing or by using drag and drop. You can also upload drawings from Trimble Connect or Viewpoint For Projects.

You must add the location record to the directory before you attempt to upload drawings to it.

Plan drawing files must be either .pdf or .jpg.

If you want to upload or replace a drawing using a file in Viewpoint For Projects (VFP), you need to have connected your Field View and VFP accounts:You must have a Trimble Connect account to upload drawings from Trimble Connect.

To watch a brief video about uploading drawings, see Drawings - Video. The video does not include information about the drawings library.

You can upload drawings from the drawings library, Trimble Connect, Viewpoint For Projects, or from your computer.
Note: Linked accounts provide a streamlined experience, more so when only one Field View account is linked to a VFP account. If you use VFP credentials that have already been linked to another FV account, the linkage works only until you log out of Field View - it does not persist across sessions.

To upload a drawing or replace one already uploaded:

  1. Confirm you're working in the correct project.
  2. Select the menu icon in the upper left corner, then choose Project Setup. Select Drawings.
  3. Select Drawing Calibration.
  4. Select the location you want to upload or replace a drawing to.
Note: If your plan drawing includes several locations and location tiers, select the highest level to which the entire drawing pertains.

For example, consider a multi-floor apartment block with multiple apartments made up of several rooms on each floor. If your plan drawing illustrates all the apartments and rooms on the first floor, select the Location representing the first floor.

  5. Select Upload Drawing.
  6. If you're replacing a drawing, select the ellipses next to the location and choose Replace Drawing. Field View displays the Drawing Upload Options window.
  7. If this is the first time a drawing is being added to the location, the right pane displays the Drawing Upload options.
  8. Choose the quality of the image. A DPI of 300 results in better quality, but Field View may perform more slowly. An image with a lower DPI will have lower quality, but Field View will perform faster.
  9. Select Convert to Grayscale to convert a color image to shades of gray. This option uses less memory than a color image.
  10. You can upload or replace the drawing several ways:
    • Drag the drawing from your computer into the Download Options area.
    • Choose Upload Drawing, then select either VFP or your computer and choose Upload Drawing again. Navigate to and select the drawing and select Upload (for VFP) or Open (for your computer).
    • Choose Upload Drawing, then select Trimble Connect and choose Upload Drawing again. Select the region and the project that contains the drawing, and choose Continue. Navigate to and select the drawing, then choose Upload.
    • If the drawing is in the Drawings Library, select the down arrow in the field next to Assign From Library and choose the drawing from the list. Select Assign From Library.
The uploaded drawing is paired with the Location you specified, and a drawing icon appears next to the Location name in the directory.
