Nominate / Renominate Employees for JobMaker Hiring Credit (AU)

If your company participates in the JobMaker Hiring Credit (JMHC) program, you must determine eligibility of employees and then nominate those employees before you can claim credits for those employees.

There are several requirements that an employee must meet in order for your company to claim the JobMaker credit for that employee, such as the age of the employee, recent receipt by the employee of certain kinds of income support, and completion by the employee of a JobMaker Hiring Credit employee notice for the employer. For a complete list of the requirements, see the ATO website.

Once you determine an employee is eligible, you must then nominate the employee and declare that nomination via the STP (Single Touch Payroll) process. Nominations are reported as "pseudo-allowance" items using the Other Allowance Type code and a special JobMaker declaration description. Pseudo-allowance items are reported within the employee's allowance collection in STP, but they represent declarations for the employee, not a true allowance or earnings of any kind.

Note: If you have an eligible employee that is a rehire with no prior history of JobMaker participation as your employee, you would "nominate" them in the same manner as a new hire.

For rehires that are participating in the JobMaker program with your company for the second time (that is, they have prior history of JobMaker participation as your employee), you will "renominate" them for participation.

The following steps outline how to nominate or renominate an employee and report the nomination via the STP process.
  1. In PR Employees, enter the eligible employee in the Employee field.
  2. Click on the Add'l Info tab.
  3. To nominate a new hire or a rehire with no prior JobMaker history with your company:
    1. In the New Hire drop-down, select MNM - Nominate employee.
    2. Save the record.
    3. To submit the declaration to the ATO, you must run the STP process (via PR STP Process).
During the generation process, the system creates a pseudo-allowance entry on the Allowances tab (in PR STP Employee), with a Type of Other, a description of "MHM - JobMaker Nomination Declaration (JMHC-NOM), and a YTD Amount of 0.00 (per ATO requirements).
  4. To renominate a rehire with prior JobMaker history with your company:
    1. In the Recent Rehire drop-down, select MRM - Renominate employee.
    2. Save the record.
    3. To submit the declaration to the ATO, you must run the STP process (via PR STP Process).
During the generation process, the system creates a pseudo-allowance entry on the Allowances tab (in PR STP Employee), with a Type of Other, a description of "MRM - JobMaker Renomination Declaration (JMHC-RENOM), and a YTD Amount of 0.00 (per ATO requirements).
