Component Tracking

Components are elements that are essential to the operation of a primary piece of equipment such as engines, transmissions, drive lines, and so forth.

EM provides you with the ability to track the location and costs all of the components used on your equipment.

Components are set up in EM Equipment, and are used when equipment costs need to be tracked at a more detailed level than the overall piece of equipment. Although set up and maintained just like regular equipment, they are flagged as Components, and do not require all of the same information (e.g. category, department, job). This is because some of the information is assumed to be the same as that of the equipment to which the component is attached.

Note: Components must be assigned to a valid piece of equipment. If a component is not assigned to a piece of equipment, then it will automatically be assigned to the Unattached Component Equipment Number specified in the company file (EM Company Parameters). If a component is assigned to a piece of equipment, and the equipment is deleted, then the component is automatically set up as a primary piece of equipment.
