Image Export Preferences
Select the display settings:
- Color – Use this option to save color images. This option uses more memory, and you may experience issues such as performance delays on some computers.
- Grayscale – Use this option to save grayscale images. For a color original, all colors are converted to shades of gray. This option uses less memory than color images.
- One Bit Threshold – Use this option for a black and white image that contains no shades of gray. Each point (or pixel) is either black or white. This option uses the least amount of memory and offers the best performance for black and white originals.
- One Bit Dithered – Dithering is the process of making pure black and white images appear to contain shades of gray by removing dots from lines and colored areas. One Bit Dithered is a pattern that can be applied to achieve this effect. Like One Bit Threshold, this option uses the least amount of memory and offers the best performance. You may see some gray lines and areas on the image, but a small sacrifice in quality delivers very good performance.
In the DPI field, select the DPI (dots per inch) resolution for the image from 100 to 600 dpi. With the image zoom at 100 percent, each dot or pixel on the image represents approximately 1/100 of an inch on most displays—that is, 100 pixels equals approximately one inch. When the image zoom is less than 100 percent, you can see more of the image, but the clarity of the image decreases. Higher resolution settings will make thin lines more distinguishable.
For best performance, choose the lowest image DPI setting that provides a usable image.
