Permission Overview

Modified: 12 May 2026 Trimble Connect Help

An overview for project admins on how permissions and file sharing are set across your Trimble Connect project.

The Permissions Overview screen is accessible in Trimble Connect for Browser under project Settings.

Folder Permissions

The Folders tab displays the folder hierarchy. Use this tab to investigate which permissions are set on project folders and how those permissions get inherited across the hierarchy.
  • To drill down into subfolders, expand them individually or select Expand All at the top.
  • When you select a given folder, its files display in a panel to the right.
The user/group option you select in the dropdown at the top dictates the perspective of how the folder hierarchy is listed:
  • All project members (the default)
  • An individual user group
  • User

Optionally, you can apply a name filter at the top to filter down to specific folders or files in the project.

Edit File or Folder Permissions

You can edit file and folder permissions directly from the Permission Overview screen.

To edit file permissions:
  1. Select the folder in the hierarchy.

The panel expands on the right side.

  2. Select the File Permissions icon next to the file name.

    A dialog box opens.

  3. Edit the file's permissions. If needed, refer to Change File Permissions for more detailed steps.

Shared Files

All shared files in the project are listed on the Shared Files tab. The file location, sharing method, date, and expiry are listed for each. Multi-file shares are grouped accordingly.

  • User

Optionally, you can apply a name filter at the top to filter down to specific files in the project.

Manage Access

To change or revoke sharing, use the icons in the Actions column.

Export Files to CSV

Whether you're working in the Folders tab or the Shared Files tab, you can download the content of the folder tree as a CSV file using the Export to CSV button at the top of the screen.
