Status of a Change Order
You can modify a change order to change its status or other details as long as you have not posted it to an estimate.
To open a job in the Manage Estimates screen, click OK.
in the All Tasks pane. Then select the job you want to open, and clickA change order’s status is a description of its progress through the approval process. Use the Status button to change a change order’s status. You can select from a list that contains the following options:
None: The change order has no status.
Pending: The change order is still under consideration. You will typically select this status for a new change order.
Approved: The change order has been approved but not posted.
Rejected: The change order has been rejected.
Posted: The change order has been accepted and incorporated into the estimate. You cannot select the Posted status; the application will change the change order's status to Posted when you post it.
Cancelled: The change order has been cancelled.
Work Auth.: The work included in the change order has been authorized.
Work Auth./Bill Allowed: The change order's work has been authorized, and billing for the work has been approved.
While you can post a change order with any status, Viewpoint recommends that you use the Status field to track which change orders are accepted and only post those change orders with a status of Acceptable, Work Auth., or Work Auth./Bill Allowed.
Change Orders are totaled by status at the bottom of the Change Orders tab. Open change orders include change orders with statuses of None and Pending. Approved change orders include changes orders with statuses of Approved, Work Auth., and Work Auth./Bill Allowed.
If the Allow creation of Change Order Requests for Change Orders? checkbox in Estimating Preferences is selected, you will not be able to set the status of a change order or post a change order to the estimate. You must use the Enter Change Management Record screen and the Create a Change Order process in the Projects module to include the change order in the project.
