Digitize Quantities in a Visual Assembly

Certain fields in visual assemblies allow you to directly input quantities via takeoff. These fields display an Express button next to them. You can only takeoff one field at a time from a visual assembly.

To open a visual assembly, open a job in the Manage Estimates screen (click Estimating > Estimating > Manage Estimates in the All Tasks pane, select the job you want to open, and click OK), then do one of the following:
  • From the Estimate tab, double-click on the visual assembly.

  • From the Takeoff tab, double-click on the takeoff item that represents the assembly, then double-click on the assembly name.

  • From the Catalog tab, open the Visual Assemblies folder and double-click on the assembly.

Note: Once a takeoff is completed where the quantities are placed directly into estimate items, the estimate items with quantities greater than 0 in the Estimate appear as blue when the visual assembly is expanded. This allows you to identify items with quantities and items without. Those without will appear in black text. You can also select an annotation on the takeoff to show which estimate items are associated with that takeoff item. By selecting the annotation, any estimate items associated with that annotation will automatically be checked for visual reference.
