Tips for Using the Takeoff Tab

• Depending on what you have currently selected on the Takeoff Tab, certain keyboard shortcuts may not be available. For example, pressing [X] to enter an elevation only works when you have a takeoff item selected.
• Double-Select a selected takeoff item to open the Properties pop-up window for the item. You can also Select Prop. or press [R] to open the Properties pop-up window.
• If your mouse has a scroll wheel, you can magnify any region on the Takeoff Tab by moving your cursor over the region you want to magnify and scrolling up with the scroll wheel. Scrolling down reduces the magnification level.
• You can also use the keyboard for magnification purposes. Pressing [I] increases magnification on the center of the drawing; pressing [O] decreases it.
• When you have magnified the tab, you can move the sheet by pressing and holding Ctrl and moving the mouse toward the area of the sheet you want to view. Release Ctrl to continue working as normal.
• You can enter an elevation value even if the focus is not on the Elevation field on the toolbar. Just type a numeric value and it will be entered into the field.
• Right-Select within the Takeoff Tab to access Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, and Zoom Out options without using the keyboard.

	Use in conjunction with other takeoff tools to create annotations from vectors within a drawing. Select Vector to turn on the Vector tool. When you turn on the Vector tool, it is activated on the Takeoff, Area, Trench, and Len/EA tabs. Select Vector again to turn off the Vector tool. Note: For newly imported PDF files that contain vectors, the Vector tool is automatically enabled. If the Vector tool is disabled in a newly imported PDF file, then the file does contain any vectors.
	Allows you to select a vector, line, spot elevation, or soil boring. If you select one item and then select another, the first item you selected will be deselected. Tip: Hold the Shift key while selecting to select multiple vectors.
	Allows you to select multiple vectors, lines, spot elevations, or soil borings.
	Use in conjunction with Point or Trace. When you digitize near a hard point, line, or finished area, the application will connect the items and create a hard point on both the new line and the existing item.
	Allows you to create a line by digitizing the elevation points from a drawing. Press the tip of the stylus onto the secured drawing on the digitizer where the points are located.
	Allows you to create a line by tracing it in the existing and proposed layers using the stylus.
	Allows you to digitize a single elevation point.
	Marks an individual elevation point on the line for use when you set grid properties in the Grid tab or when using matchlines to work with multiple drawings.
	If Vector is enabled, use to select a vector and create an annotation in a single step. Left-Select to create the annotation and change the elevation; right-Select to create the annotation without changing the elevation. If Vector is not enabled, use to adjust the elevation and interval of a single line that was previously digitized.
	If Vector is enabled, use to create multiple annotations from selected vectors at different elevations in a single step. Draw a line across vectors of different elevations and then set the start elevation and interval. If Vector is not enabled, use to adjust the elevation and interval of multiple lines that were previously digitized.
	Displays the current drawing to the limits of the located drawing after you have magnified the view or zoomed into a specific section.
	Displays the entire job site on which you are currently working in respect to all the other drawings or phases of a job, such as viewing a golf course hole in respect to its location and position on the golf course along with all the other holes. Fit to World is only pertinent when you use multiple drawings for a job.
	Displays the Properties pop-up window for the selected item. You can factor, slope, and copy elevations as well as mark specific reference points on lines and display the Northing and Easting values for each point on a line.
	Specifies that you have finished digitizing and creates an annotation for the selected vector, line, or series of borings. If multiple vectors are selected, select Finished to join the vectors together to create a single annotation. Once you Select Finished, the elevation increases or decreases by the interval amount specified. Tip: To create an annotation, select a vector and right-click your mouse. Right-clicking your mouse when no vectors are selected creates an annotation from the closest vector.
	Specifies that you have finished digitizing and creates an annotation without increasing the elevation. If Vector is enabled, select one or more vectors, Select Continue, and then select additional vectors with the same elevation. If multiple vectors are selected, the vectors are joined together to create a single annotation. If Vector is not enabled, digitize a line using Point or Trace and Select Continue. Then digitize another line with the same elevation.
	Specifies the elevation for the last point digitized along a line. Before you Select Hard Point, enter the appropriate elevation in the Elevation field on the toolbar.
	Use in conjunction with Point or Trace to automatically digitize a contour line.
	Allows you to digitize soil borings. This is only available when viewing the substrata layer.
	Allows you to create point to point and trace annotations faster and more accurately. Set the sensitivity of the tool on the Preferences screen. When you turn on the Align to Image tool, it is activated on the Takeoff, Area, Trench, Len/EA, and Layout tabs. Select AI again to turn off the Align to Image tool. You can also hold Shift to turn Align to Image on or off temporarily while you are digitizing.
	Displays the Select Layers to View pop-up window.
