Formatted Text Editor Icon and Keyboard Reference

The following tables explain the icons and keyboard shortcuts you can use in a formatted text editor.

Icon Reference

IconDescription
Displays of a list of available fonts and allows you to select a font.
Displays of a list of available font sizes and allows you to select a font size.
Displays a color palette and allows you to select a font color.
Displays a color palette and allows you to select a background color.
Cuts the selected text to the Windows clipboard.
Copies the selected text to the Windows clipboard.
Pastes the text from the Windows clipboard.
Bolds the selected text.
Italicizes the selected text.
Underlines the selected text.
Left aligns the text.
Center aligns the text.
Right aligns the text.
Spell checks the text in the formatted text editor.
Displays a list of standard text entries that you can insert in the formatted text editor. For details, see Standard Text screen. (You can also use the macro function to insert a standard text entry.)

Keyboard Reference

In addition to the keys described below, you can also use the standard Windows editing keys (for example, Ctrl+V to paste) in the Formatted Text Editor.

F4Saves the contents of the formatted text editor and exits the window.
[F7]Spell checks the text in the formatted text editor.
Ctrl + TabSaves the contents of the formatted text editor, exits the formatted text editor, and moves the cursor to the next field.
Shift + Ctrl + TabSaves the contents of the formatted text editor, exits the formatted text editor, and moves the cursor to the previous field.
EscClose the formatted text editor without saving the changes

LeftMoves the cursor one character to the left.
RightMoves the cursor one character to the right.
UpMoves the cursor to the previous line
DownMoves the cursor to the next line
Page upPerforms the Page Up operation

Ctrl+RightNavigates to the next word
HomeNavigates to the beginning of the current line
EndNavigates to the end of the current line
Ctrl + HomeNavigates to the beginning of the entire contents

BackspaceDeletes the selected text. If no text is selected, deletes the character to the left of the cursor.
DeleteDeletes the selected text. If no text is selected, deletes the character to the right of the cursor.
Alt + EnterInserts a line break.
Ctrl+[A]Selects the entire contents of the editor.
Ctrl+[X]Cuts the selected text to the Windows clipboard.
Ctrl+CCopies the selected text to the Windows clipboard.
Ctrl+VPastes the text from the Windows clipboard.
Ctrl+[Z]Performs and undo of the last operation.
Ctrl+[Y]Performs a redo of the last undo operation.
Ctrl+[B]Toggles bold formatting.
Ctrl+[I]Toggles italic formatting.
Ctrl+[U]Toggles underline formatting.
