Configure Your Firewall

You must enable your firewall to allow workstations to connect to the application installed on the server. Take these steps only if you are using a firewall other than Windows Firewall.

Important: By default the install files configures the Windows firewall, in which case you don't need to configure a firewall of your own. Go to the next step in the installation process, which is Install ProContractor on a Workstation.

If you are using Windows Firewall, the install program should automatically configure your firewall.

Complete the appropriate procedure to configure your firewall only if you are using a firewall other than Windows Firewall.

If needed, consult your firewall documentation for details.

  1. Make sure that your firewall is active.
  2. Set your firewall to allow connections from the following programs:
    • <Microsoft SQL Server path>\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe
    • <Microsoft SQL Server path>\MSSQL10.PCMX\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe
    • <Application path>\Maxwell.Stp.LicenseMonitorService.exe
  3. Set your firewall to allow connections to port 8080 for TCP.
Note: If port 8080 is already used, enter the port number you used when you configured reporting services.
