Set the orientation of a drawing using world coordinates
- Examine the drawings you want to use in the job and make sure that the drawings use Northing/Easting world coordinates.

Using colored pens, label each Northing/Easting world coordinate points on the drawing.
Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
- Select the Takeoff tab, if it is not already active.
- Click Estimating > Earthwork > Takeoff > Set Orientation in the All Tasks pane.
- In the Northing field, enter the Northing coordinate of the first point on the drawing.
- In the Easting field, enter the Easting coordinate of the first point on the drawing.
- Click Locate Point.
- Digitize the first Northing/Easting world coordinate point.

If you are using the direction of North for the second world coordinate value for the drawing, select the Direction option button, click Digitize Vector, digitize the South point of the North compass on the drawing, then digitize the North point of the North compass.
The direction of North appears in the compass preview.

If you are using a second Northing/Easting world coordinate for the second coordinate value for the drawing, select the Second Point option button, enter the Northing coordinate of the second point on the current drawing in the Northing field, enter the Easting coordinate of the second point in the Easting field, click Locate Point, and digitize the second Northing/Easting world coordinate point.
The direction of North appears in the compass preview.
- Click OK.
