Zoom on Sheets

There are two features that you can use to magnify or zoom in on a sheet: Zoom Bar and Auto-Zoom.

To open a job in the Manage Estimates screen, click Estimating > Estimating > Manage Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.

The Zoom Bar

Use the Zoom Bar to change the magnification of your plans during takeoff. It is located on the left-hand side of the Takeoff, once you have activated it. The zoom bar will show you three user defined zoom settings which display what level each mode is set to and the active mode. The active mode will have the slider shown with it.

If you add or edit an annotation while zoomed in on a plan and need to move outside the zoom area, move the mouse to automatically scroll to the new area. You can change the speed of the scrolling using Estimating Preferences screen.

When a sheet is magnified, you can move to a different part of the sheet while maintaining the same magnification using one of the following methods:

  • Click on the blue square in the overview window and drag it to the new location.

  • Pan the sheet by holding Ctrl and moving the mouse in the direction of the area of the sheet you want to see. Depending on the Estimating Preferences screen settings, you may have to hold Ctrl and the left mouse button.

Auto-Zoom

Use the Auto-Zoom feature to magnify a specific area while you are adding a new annotation. This feature is turned off by default, so you must enable it to use it. Auto-Zoom only works for adding new estimate items. For example:

Auto-Zoom

In the above image, if you wanted to digitize the corner in the area circled in red, you could click on it to engage the Auto-Zoom and magnify the plan at that point.

Auto-Zoom

In the image above, the Auto-Zoom tool has magnified the region. When you click on a point in the magnified area, the point is digitized and the magnification window closes.
