TDS Data screen

Use the TDS Data screen to export elevation data to a file that can be used by data collectors. This enables you to compare the elevations saved for an earthwork job with the real world through the use of a data collector. When you export these files called TDS data files, you are exporting a grid of elevations to the file. The actual contours and spot elevations are not exported. When you export the TDS data, you are prompted to select the spacing for the grid. This enables you to create a TDS data file with an appropriate spacing of elevation points.

You can export files to the following formats:

  • TDS files with a CR5 file extension

  • ASCII files with an ASC file extension

  • ASCII files with a TXT file extension

When you export TDS data, you export a single layer from the Earthwork module to the TDS data file. You must also select the areas on that layer to export. You cannot export a TDS data file if you have not created an area on that layer. You can only export elevations within the areas you select.

Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
