Add a BIM Model to a Drawing Calibration

Upload a BIM model to have Field View identify the architecture and apply calibrations to assist in project setup. You have the ability to confirm the placement of the calibrations and preview the geometry before accepting it.

If a space is a polygon, you will need to edit the calibration after the upload process is finished.

You can upload models from the model library, VFP, or Trimble Connect.

  1. Select the menu icon in the upper left corner, then choose Project Setup. Select Drawings.
  2. Choose Drawing Calibrations.
  3. Select the location. If the location isn’t yet listed in the tree, select the three dots next to the project name and choose Add Location.
  4. Fill in the location information and select Save.
  5. Select Upload Model.
  6. Select Model Library, Trimble Connect, or VFP and choose Next. Sign in if necessary.
If you upload the model from Trimble Connect, Field View automatically adds it to the model library.
  7. If you're uploading the model from Trimble Connect, select the region and the project, and choose Continue.
  8. Navigate to and select the model and choose Upload or Upload Model.
Field View uploads the model and generates the geometry.
  9. Select Preview Geometry.
This gives you the opportunity to remove any locations or generated drawings.
  10. Clear the checkbox for any location you don’t want to add to your geometry tree. You can use the Search field to find the location.
  11. Use the pencil icon to change the name of the location if needed.
  12. Select Next.
  13. Clear the checkbox for any calibrations you don’t want to upload to your location.
  14. Select Apply.
The BIM is uploaded to the project. Field View displays the locations in red, indicating you must upload the detailed 2D drawings.
