Configure In-Line Start and Stop time on the Standard Timecard

You can easily modify your Standard timecard to allow users to enter start and stop time within their timecard lines.

You will need to be a Timecard Admin to add the fields to your Stand a System Admin to modify the Portal Settings mentioned in this article. See Standard Timecard Configuration prior to configuring in-line Start/Stop times on a standard timecard.
Note: This feature is not related to any clock-in / clock-out or Time Worked features.
  1. Go to Employee Tools > Timecard Admin > Timecard Settings and filter to the Payroll Company and Group you would like to modify.
    1. Add the Start Time and Stop time fields to your timecard by changing their visibility to Editable. Place these before the Hours fields.
    2. If you would like users to be able to enter break hours, add the BreakHours field. Add this between Start and Stop fields.
  2. If you would like to make these fields required (meaning users will not be able to submit time without filling out these fields), select Advanced > Req'd for each field.
  3. If your users will be entering time in military time, or will be working overnight hours, you will want to enable portal setting Enable in-line start/stop military time and overnight entry (Admin > Portal Settings > Timecard > General Configuration). The entered start and stop times will not automatically convert to standard time (AM and PM) and will calculate swing shift time (Clock in: 2100, Clock out: 200, hours = 11).
Note: It is recommended to disable the Timecard Stop Time must be greater than start Time feature in Vista’s PR Company parameters > Info Tab.
  4. If you do not want the hours field to automatically calculate based on the start time and stop time entry you can enable portal setting Turn off Auto-Calculate Hours from Start and Stop Time (setting location: Admin > Portal Settings > Timecard > Standard Timecard).
  5. If you want to allow employees to enter overlapping start and stop times on their standard timecard for particular earn codes, use the portal setting Earn Codes to exclude from start / stop Overlap Restriction. In this setting, enter the earn codes that will allow overlapping time.

Portal setting location: Admin > Portal Settings > Timecard > Standard Timecard

Note: This setting only applies to start / stop times in standard timecard entry (goes to PR Timecard Entry in Vista). It does not apply to other methods for clocking in and out in the portal (ones that go to PR Employee Daily Time in Vista).
After you have configured your start and stop times be sure to test in the payroll company and payroll group you have configured.
