Prepare for the Upgrade to Trimble ID (TID)

We plan to transition all Jobpac Connect customers to Trimble Identity by the end of 2025.

To ensure a smooth transition, we will inform you in advance about the activation date for Trimble Identity in your environment. The exact timing of your transition will depend on your Trimble product mix and the authentication method that you are currently using.

This guide is to provide you with some additional tips on how your company can prepare for the Upgrade to TID.

Note:

This is not designed to be a comprehensive list of preparation steps, and you should consider your own companies needs for change management. Good change management will ensure a trouble-free transition to Trimble ID.

Consider the following situations, and take action as necessary for your organisation.

User Profiles and Jobpac Email Auditing

You may need to address the following scenarios relating to user profiles and Jobpac email addresses:

Duplicate User Email Addresses:

If you have multiple user profiles with the same email address it will cause complications when those users create their Trimble ID and Jobpac attempts to link the accounts, with additional validation and profile matching steps required. It is advised that you remove any duplicate email addresses before your users start creating their Trimble ID accounts.

Users Without Email Addresses:

Since Trimble ID uses an email address for the user name, ensure that each user has an email address to log in with, and also that their Jobpac email address is set up.

See Audit and Edit User Email Addresses for more information.

Automation

If your organisation has any automation using front-end access to Jobpac that requires a username and password to sign on, the robotic user will also need to be migrated to Trimble ID. Or else, the automation will break.
Note: The sign-on pages will also change in appearance.

ODBC and API User Access

You don't have to migrate ODBC and API user access profiles.

Federation with Trimble ID

If you are currently federated with Viewpoint ID, you also need to federate with Trimble ID. Please allow two to four weeks for the federation process. You can commence this process now by filling out the Trimble ID Federation Request form. Ensure you specify the Australian (ANZ) region in the request form when asked.

If you've already federated with Trimble ID and Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory), then you're already using Trimble ID, and there is nothing for you to do.

If you haven't already federated with Microsoft Entra, the upgrade to Trimble ID makes it possible. To get started with moving to federated logins, read more about it at our Identity Federation help page. Ensure you specify the Australian (ANZ) region in the request form when asked.

Notify All Users of the Change

Good change management will ensure a trouble-free transition to Trimble ID. It is recommended that you communicate the change well with your users, including when the change will happen and what to expect on their first sign-on to Jobpac after the TID activation in your environment.

Watch the Upgrade Your Login to TID Video

After Trimble Identity has been activated in your environment, each of your users will be guided through their own TID setup process the next time they sign on to Jobpac. To see what that process will be like, watch this video: Upgrade Your Login to Trimble ID.

Audit and Edit User Email Addresses

If you are an administrator, you can audit and edit user email addresses.

To edit email addresses:
  1. Log into your Jobpac Connect account.
  2. Select System Administration in the left pane and then select Define Security > Maintain email addresses.
  3. Select User in the Display Types field.
  4. Review all the user email addresses to ensure that:
    • They are not blank
    • They are valid corporate email addresses (this should be the same as their TID to make registration super easy)
    • They are not duplicated for multiple users
