Create a Subcontract and Route It for Approval

Create a subcontract to write a commitment of pricing, scope of work, terms, and conditions for a subcontractor. The subcontract record helps you monitor billing, retention, and payments as well as bond and insurance requirements.

Tip: You can also create a subcontract without routing it for approval. See Create a Subcontract for details.
  1. Optional: If you haven't already done so, set up your subcontract defaults on the Subcontract Settings screen.
  2. Optional: If you haven't already done so, set up the vendor for subcontracts.
  3. Optional: If you haven't already done so, set up your document management defaults.
    Note: You can only use document routing if you have selected the Document Routing Distribution Control checkbox on the Document Management Settings screen.
  4. Optional: If you haven't already done so, set up your order types.
  5. Optional: If you haven't already done so, set up your document routing distribution groups.
  6. On the Enter Subcontract screen, enter the details of the subcontract.
  7. Select the users and/or the document routing distribution group that will review the subcontract.
  8. Optional: If needed, contact the reviewers to advise them to review the subcontract.
  9. On the View Subcontract Log screen, periodically view the status of the document routing for the subcontract to monitor the review process.
  10. Optional: Once the subcontract is approved, manage the subcontract and the PDF file as needed.
