Offset and Stake Lines in the Proposed or Existing Layer

  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
    Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
  2. Select the Layout tab.
  3. In the Active Layer field on the toolbar, click to select the layer you want to stake.
  4. Click Elevationsor Areas on the speedbar to view the lines or areas on the layer.
  5. Click Select on the speedbar and select a line or area that you want to stake.
  6. Click Prop on the speedbar.
  7. In the Offset field, click to enter the distance of the offset.
  8. In the unlabeled field to the right of the Offset field, click to select the unit of measure for the offset distance.
  9. To offset the line to the left, select the Left option button. To offset to the right, select the Right option button.
  10. Select the Smooth checkbox to enable the smoothing function which provides enhanced accuracy when offsetting over large distances.
  11. Do one of the following:
    • To stake individual points, select the point to stake and click Stake. Repeat for each spot you want to stake.
    • To stake a group of points, click on the first point to stake, and drag your mouse to the last point to stake, then click Stake.
    • To stake all points, click Select All and click Stake.
  12. When you are finished staking points on the line or area, click Close.
