Install SQL Express on your Company Server

Take these steps if you're using the free version of SQL which is bundled with the ProContractor application and you're installing it for the first time.

If you are using the Standard SQL version, go instead to Install SQL Server on your Company Server.

Please review the minimum hardware and software requirements before beginning this installation.

Note: The installation checks that the server meets the Server-Based Network Requirements. Review the requirements and ensure that the server meets those requirements before installing.
  1. Log in as an administrator to the computer where you want to install the ProContractor server.
  2. Double-click the installation file for the SQL Server Express version of the ProContractor server that you Download ProContractor Install Files earlier.
  3. Review the items to be installed and click Install.
  4. Review the message about restarting your computer and click Yes.
  5. On the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard screen, click Next.
  6. On the License Agreement page:
    1. (Optional) Click Print to print the agreement.
    2. Read the third party software notices and additional terms and conditions by clicking Third Party Software Used.
    3. Select the appropriate option button and click Next.
      Note: Accept the terms of the license agreement in order to continue the installation.
  7. If you want to install the application files to the default location, click Next. Otherwise, click Change, then browse to select the appropriate folder and click Next.
  8. If you want to install the database to the default location, click Next. Otherwise, click Browse, then browse to select the appropriate folder and click Next.
  9. If you want to install the database to the default database instance, click Next. Otherwise, click Browse, then browse to select the appropriate database instance and click Next.

    Viewpoint recommends using the default database instance. If you change the instance, the instance name for later use.

  10. On the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install.
  11. If a message appears about compatibility issues with Microsoft SQL Server, click Run Program to continue the installation.
  12. When the installation program completes, click Finish.
