What's New in ProContractor 4.4.1

ProContractor 4.4.1 is the 2024 year-end version which brings updates required for 2024 year-end processing. It also provides updated tax rates and other new requirements for payrolls whose dates fall in 2025.

Year-end Programming Changes

We've updated ProContractor so that the pertinent reports and electronic files remain IRS- and CRA-compliant, as well as functional with our partners, like Aatrix and Greenshades.

Updated Forms T4

Meeting requirements for 2024 payrolls, we've updated the T4 form according to guidance issued by the CRA. In support of this new functionality, your ProContractor application has these changes:
  • Two new second-tier CPP contributions fields in the Edit Forms T4 screen
  • Support for Box 45 - Dental benefits code
  • Support for Boxes 90, 91, 92, 94, and 95 in the Other Information section
  • More than a dozen updated reports to include the second-tier values which are calculated based on your settings

Naturally, when you proceed with Aatrix, or print or export the Form T4, ProContractor includes these values too.

Updated Forms W2

We've added the new code II (not to be confused with 11 or LL) issued this year by the IRS. You can enter this new code in any one of the Box 12 fields in the Edit Forms W-2 screen. Whether you're filing using ProContractor or Aatrix, the system will retrieve the newly added value from the Edit Forms W-2 screen when building the forms.

According to the IRS, code II should be used report Medicaid waiver payments not included in Form W-2 box 1.

New Utilization Classifications

The Utilization Classification dropdown in the Employee Setup screen now includes two additional selections:
  • Foreperson
  • Non-apprenticed Laborer or Helper
The Utilization Report is updated to render these new values according to your selections.
Note: The New Hire classification is no longer included in the CC-257 Report. It remains available in the application for your use, but ProContractor excludes it when rendering the report.

Trimble ID for Cloud Users

Starting with the prior release, you can log in to your application using Trimble ID. Your Trimble ID is your set of single sign-on credentials which you can also use to log in to any other Trimble product.

In a future cloud release, logging in using Trimble ID will become mandatory, and your ProContractor credentials will stop working.

If your instance of the application is hosted in the cloud, you can opt to set up your Trimble account and start logging in using your Trimble ID starting now. To get started, see Upgrade your legacy ProContractor login to Trimble ID. For more information, see Legacy login to Trimble ID FAQ.
