Filter, sort, and search

Some record lists offer filter, sort, and search capabilities.

Tip: To ensure effective filtering, sorting, and searching, punctuation and symbols must be used consistently. Be aware that some devices automatically replace symbols or punctuation.

For example:

  • Straight quotes (' or ") may change to smart quotes ( ‛ ' or " ")
  • Two dashes may change to an en dash ( – )
  • Three dashes may change to an em ( — ) dash
  • Three periods may change to ellipses ( … )

In addition, the accent grave (`) can be confused with a single quote, but should only be used to indicate pitch or stressed vowels. To adjust auto-corrections go to settings on your device.

Search, sort, and filter in records

From many record list headers and sub-headers, you can search a list, sort a list, or apply filters.
