Test User Roles and Permissions

Preview and test user roles and permissions to confirm that each role has the correct access level.

You can modify the permissions assigned to a user role and retest as needed.
Note: To test user roles, you must have Manage Permissions enabled and also have permission to edit users.
  1. Log in to Traqspera as a user with Manage Permissions enabled and with permission to edit users.
  2. In the upper right of the page, a dropdown field displays, showing your current user role.

The dropdown field displays with a white background when your assigned user role is selected. When viewing a user role in test mode, the dropdown field displays with a pink background.

  3. Select the dropdown field, and choose the user role that you want to test. For example, Employee.

    After you select a role:

    • The navigation changes to reflect the role's current permissions.

    • A pink bar displays across the top of the page to indicate that you are in test mode (does not apply to consultants).

    • System Permissions and Application Settings are available so that you can modify a user role as needed. However, they display with a pink background if the role you are testing does not have permission to access these options (does not apply to consultants).

The User Management menu option also displays with a pink background for test roles that do not have permission to it.

  4. To modify the permissions for the current role, select Settings > System Permissions.
  5. Change the permissions as needed.
  6. Retest the user role to validate your changes.
  7. To exit test mode, you can do either of the following:
    • Select Exit Testing in the upper right of the pink bar at the top of the page (not available to consultants).

    • Select your assigned user role from the user role dropdown field.
