Create Trenches

Create trenches in a job to define the trenches you need on a job.

Tip: There are a number of tools that speed the creation of trenches by allowing you to define the components for use in trenches. You can define trench templates or copy trench properties if multiple trenches will have similar characteristics.
  1. If you haven't already done so, define types of pipes to use in trenches on the Pipe Attribute screen.
  2. If you haven't already done so, define types of materials to use in bedding layers in trenches on the Volume Attributes screen.
  3. If you haven't already done so, define trench templates on the Trench Attributes screen.
  4. If you haven't already done so, define the depths for which you want to view trench information on the Define and Set Cut Depths screen.
  5. Magnify the Trench tab.
  6. Digitize the trench on the Trench tab of the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
  7. Copy the trench properties to other trenches to assign them the same properties.
  8. View the trench in the 3D, Grid, and Section tabs.
  9. Print the trench tab.
After you create a trench, you may want to View Trench Quantities.
