File Menu and Tools

The File Menu provides a number of menu options. Some options only become available after a file is selected.

To access the File Menu, select File to get to the main Advanced Image Manager menu and then select a file to work on. Select to return to the main Advanced Image Manager screen.

File Menu

  • : Select this to return to the main Advanced Image Manager screen.

  • Open: Opens a file. You can have up to ten PDFs open. Once the file is open, you can select the specific layers and pages you want to be included in your modifications. See Select Layers and Pages.

    NOTE: If you attempt to open the same PDF more than once, you will not receive a warning message.

  • Close: Closes the current file.

  • Close All: Closes all files.

  • Recently Used Files: Displays a list of the 20 most recently opened files for selection on the right. This list does not include files that were originally opened in Digital Takeoff.

  • Add: Use this option to select and add a single page or multiple page file to the current file. Select Add, then in the Add dialog, browse to select the file that you want to add to it. Select Open to add the file. You will return to Advanced Image Manager and see that the pages of the file you selected have been appended to the thumbnail previews of the file you have open.

  • Save: Saves the current file.

  • Save As: Opens the save options screen to name and select a location for the file.

  • Save Image As: Saves the selected page as an image. Supported file types are .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, and .tif. Enter a filename and select a location for the file.

  • Print: Opens the Print dialog.

  • Options and Settings: Opens the menu to select a shortcut to the following features:

    • Drag/Drop Options: Opens the PDF Drag/Drop Options window. See Set Drag/Drop Options.

    • DTO File Naming Preferences: Opens the Image Export Naming for Saved Files window. See Set Digital Takeoff (DTO) File Naming Preferences for details.

    • Merge Options: Opens the PDF Document Merge Options window. See Set Merge Options.

    • Split Options: Opens the PDF Split Options window. See Set Split Options.

    • Standard Watermark Options: Opens the Standard Watermark Options window. See Set Standard Watermark Options.

    • Annotation Options: Opens the Annotation Options window. See Set Annotation Options.

    • Reset Windows: Resets the startup locations for any dialog boxes that were closed on a system with multiple monitors or were not on the viewable screen, such as removing a laptop from a docking station that has a second or larger monitor.

  • Info: Opens the Document Properties window. Trimble recommends not changing any fields on the Security tab as this functionality comes from a third-party source and is not fully supported.

  • Help: Opens the online Help.

  • About: Displays the version number, the operating system, and the name of the person the software is registered to.

  • Check for Updates: Displays the version number and whether or not you have installed the latest version.

  • Exit AIM: Exits the Advanced Image Manager.
