Create a project with an automatically assigned project number

To create a project with an automatically assigned project number, the Enable Auto Assign Project Number checkbox must be selected on the Project Settings screen.

If you have entered values on the Default Project screen, ProContractor uses those values when you create a project.

  1. Open the Project screen.
  2. Note the active company. If you want to change it, click in the header and select the appropriate company.
  3. If the option to enable project number prefixes is selected in the Project Settings screen, in the Using Prefix field, click to select the prefix for the project number.
Note: The prefix defaults to the last prefix used.
  4. Click the Auto Generate Project button.
  5. Press Tab.
  6. In the Name field, enter the name of the project.

The project name should be unique and descriptive enough that other users can easily identify it in a lookup list. As a best practice, you should always give projects unique names across companies.

  7. Complete the fields as described on the Project Screen Field Reference.
  8. Click Save Project.
Note: If the Lien Management Review Required checkbox for this screen is selected on the Lien Management Settings screen, you must view the Lien Notices tab before saving the entry.
Note: When you save the project, ProContractor checks to ensure that the project number has not already been used. If the number has been used, a new number is automatically generated and assigned during the save process.
